Main lines of research

The main research line of the group headed by Dr. Carmelo García-Monzón

focus on the characterization of the epidemiology and molecular mecha-

nisms involved in the pathogenesis of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, which
is commonly associated with obesity and diabetes mellitus type 2 as well

as with metabolic syndrome and, therefore, being considered as the more 13
frequent chronic liver disease in the developed world.
