Highlights
During 2013 the scientific activity of the group has been particularly significant,
with more than half of scientific papers published in international first quartile

journals. The group has also been involved in several research projects, all them

obtained in competitive calls. Also in 2013 two researchers from the group have
obtained two new FIS projects that will begin in January 2014. One of the projects

is related to factors associated with the development of breast cancer in a cohort

of women, while the other one is focused on exposure to environmental tobacco
smoke in children under 12 years. Also noteworthy is the high number of presen-

tations at scientific conferences, as well as lectures at international conferences

such as the Annual Meeting of the German, Austrian and Swiss Associations for
Hematology and Oncology and the International Conference on Tobacco Preven-

tion and Control. Regarding teaching, some researchers of the group are teaching
at official masters like the Master of Public Health (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) or

the Master of Tropical Medicine and International Health (Autonomous University

of Barcelona). In addition, some members of the group are directors of PhD thesis
currently in progress. Finally, it is important to notice that the group is accredited

as emerging research group on evaluation of policies and public health programs

for the Agency for Administration of University and Research Grants (AGAUR) of
the Generalitat de Catalunya.
