• EPIDEMIOLOGY OFCARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE, DIABETES, AND OTHER
CHRONIC DISEASES.
The group participates in the DARIOS and FRESCO studies (on cardiovascular
risk functions for the Spanish population), the EPIC-CVD study (a joint study
of the effect of genetic factors, biomarkers, and life styles, on coronary heart
disease and stroke in Europe), and the European case-cohort InterAct study 13

(on diabetes and the interaction between genetic and modifiable life-style fac- T
tors).. Other line of the group is the estimation of the burden of infectious R

diseases in Spain with a special focus on hepatitis B and C. On the epidemiol- E
ogy of neurological disorders, the group currently leads the PEGASUS-Murcia L R

study, a population-based survey to know the prevalence of mental disorders, NU
co-morbidities and related factors.
