SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMMES



The main objective of the programme is to see to the National Health System’s needs 
Objectives
for knowledge by conducting the most suitable and effective research in the field of 
healthcare contributing to maximum effectiveness, safety and sustainability.



• To analyze and identify the relevant determinants and processes in population 

clinical care.

• To identify new or emerging efficient health interventions with greater impact on 

population health by means of research and by using advanced epidemiological 
methods in and synthesis primary studies

• To review and to summarize the most suitable contemporary health research for 

the NHS’s needs.

• To identify knowledge gaps, deficiencies and obstacles in current medical re- 

search and the needs of healthcare by developing new knowledge methodologies, 
statistical techniques and result transfer.


• To prepare training and coaching initiatives for imparting skills to new investiga- 
tors and professionals with respect to the objectives described in this programme.

• To prepare initiatives for transferring and disseminating research findings among 

different healthcare agents and recipients.

• To prepare initiatives for the incorporation of opinions/participation of citizens in 

choosing the health knowledge of interest and in prioritizing and adapting the dif- 
ferent actions.





The development of strategic subprogrammes envisaged for the 2011-2014 period 
Strategic 
continued this year. In the EMPARO-MAPAC strategic subprogramme in particular, the 
subprogrammes
data collection phase culminated in several multicentre study projects on healthcare 
process and on observed results with methodology standardization phase in hospitals 

participating in Improving the Adaptation of the Healthcare and Clinical Process of the 

Clinical Epidemiology programme.
