• Evaluation of health services efficiency and effectiveness. Application of Health-Related
Quality of Life (HRQL) measuring instruments as results in the evaluation of the efficacy,
effectiveness and efficiency of medical procedures or health programs, specially cancer.
It also comprises cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analysis (using psychometric or
econometric tools to measure quality of life, respectively) to include an economic evalu-
ation of health services. Research findings are expected to influence the doctors’ and the
government’s decision-making and, therefore, contribute positively to the quality and
efficiency of the national health system.
