Comparing European Prostitution Policies: Understanding Scales and Cultures of
Highlights
Governance (ProsPol): ProsPol will compare and disseminate knowledge about
the multiple contexts, features and effects of prostitution policies at the Euro-
pean, national and local levels. Due to the combined pressures of globalisation
and changing patterns of migration, trafficking and the commercialisation of sex,
prostitution has received unprecedented levels of attention in the last three deca-
des. This has led to a heightened demand for effective models of regulation, for
legal harmonization and sharing practice across jurisdictions. Nevertheless, much
is contested in this field, with countries adopting varying approaches in light of
their own particular political, social and legal cultures.
Yorie. Young and Old for Regional Identities in Europe: The project aims to em-
power the construction of European identity based on the reemergence of regional
identities through intergenerational support to young adults’ personal develop-
ment to assist transition to the wider community and employment opportunities
along with acquisition of key competences in non-formal and informal backgrounds
as a non-traditional route back into education and employment.
‘PROGRESS TOWARDS HEALTHY AGEING IN EUROPE’: The ‘PROGRESS TOWARDS
HEALTHY AGEING IN EUROPE’ project - involving five European countries and are
involved far more than 20 organizations, aims to give a joint response to the cha-
llenge of establishing political action to support a healthy, active aging and worthy, 13
20
improving efficiency and effectiveness in the costs involved in the health and so- T
cial care for an increasingly elderly population. The project proposes initiatives to OR
P
promote healthy aging in the workplace.
