Main lines of research
• REGULATION OF CELL DEATH AND PROLIFERATION AND THEIR RELATION
WITH THE THERAPEUTIC EFFICACY IN HEPATOCARCINOMA. ROLE OF P53
GENE FAMILY MEMBERS AND OXIDATIVE/NITROSATIVE STRESS
We investigate the alteration of cell death and proliferation signaling du-
ring treatment with Sorafenib and immunosuppressive agents (Everolimus
13
vs Sirolimus). The project includes a descriptive follow-up study of pa- 20
tients with hepatocellular carcinoma, as well as various experimental in T
R
vitro and in vivo using established hepatoma cell lines. In particular, the PO
role of p53 gene family members, the degree of tumor differentiation and E
L R
oxidative/nitrosative stress will be associated with the antitumor activity of A
NU
the treatments.

The project investigates the involvement of PTEN/PI3K/AKT/mTOR signa- ER
ling pathways in pancreatic cancer. Different experimental cellular models, IB
C
as well as tumor implantation in nude mice will be developed in order to
