CAPUA STUDY (LUNG CANCER in ASTURIAS). It is the largest epidemiological
Menndez Crispn, Avelino study in Spain in lung cancer research with 880 incident cases and 844 controls

with demographic data, history of cancer and potential risk factors, and 24 SNPs
Riao Galn, Isolina genotyped.
Rivas Del Fresno, Manuel
In 2010 is integrated into the International Lung Cancer Consortium of the Inter-
Souto Garca, Ana national Agency for Research on Cancer. It has also been incorporated into the
Surez Menndez, Mara Etelvina
SYNERGY project, which brings together several European case-control studies to

analyze the effects of exposure to occupational carcinogens in the development

of lung cancer.

SPANISH BLADDER CANCER STUDY. In Asturias it was initiated in 1997 as a col-
laborative project of the IMIM, DCEG INC in USA, and the University of Oviedo for

assessing the risk of bladder cancer in relation to environmental and occupational
exposures, lifestyle, genetic susceptibility and its interaction with environmental

exposure. It is also evaluating molecular genetic and clinical factors associated 20
with survival.

INMA PROJECT - Childhood and Environment. It was created with the aim of PO
studying the role of the most important environmental pollutants in air, water E

and diet during pregnancy and early life, and its effects on infant growth and A
development. Asturias INMA Cohort in the III health area, begins in 2004 and NU

follows 485 pregnant women from the 12th week of pregnancy and their children A
up to 7-8 years.
