The activity conducted during Science Week in Catalonia consisted of developing
a round table dialogue on November 18 to discuss “Translational Research at
the service of the patient”, held in the Esther Koplowitz Centre in Barcelona.
CIBERESP’s intervention was entrusted to Group 3 with the subject “Single Mothers
in Spain”, as part of the SOPHIE, Structural Policies for Health Inequalities Evalua-
tion, project in order to generate new evidence on the impact of structural policies
on health inequality and developing new technologies to evaluate said policies in
Europe. The state of health and the lifestyles of the mothers were analyzed, taking
into account if they have a life partner and if they are the heads of household, with
data obtained from the National Health Survey from 2003 and 2011.
