• The group has obtained three projects of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, two 
Highlights
of them are part of the coordinated project to analyze the impact of the crisis on 

the health of the Spanish population. On the other hand we continue to lead the 
SOPHIE European project (EU FP7).

• It has been achieved an agreement with the General Directorate for Traffic: 

“Semi - separation in conventional highway roads: analysis of different systems 

and evaluation of interventions already made.”

• The year 2013 have been presented 4 doctoral theses directed by researchers 
of the group.

• Also, we have worked with the Immigration Sub-program for the analysis of data 

from the National Health Survey 2011-12 to study health and determinants of 

health in immigrant population.

• The Observatory Health of Inequalities is alive, a scientific portal of free access 
specializing in Health Inequalities Gapminder, participating in the Inequality 

Watch project, and developing a Training Plan. It continues to publish and update 

content on website inequalities.

• Several members of Alicante are part of the WHO collaborating center for issues 
of social inclusion and health. They participate in the social Interuniversity 

Institute for Peace and Development at the University of Alicante.

• We have created the forum of public health academics and held its first meeting 

centered on pharmacy degree and the results will be submitted to the journal 
Gaceta Sanitaria for consideration as an original article.


• We continue to lead the journal Gaceta Sanitaria (Carme Borrell) and participating 
in the editorial committee (Carlos Alvarez- Dardet, Carmen Vives, Gloria Pérez).
