Participation in the EPIC International cohort study and associated studies (In-
Highlights
terAct, EPIC-heart, Neuro-EPIC,). During the last years, this collaboration has
generated a large amount of scientific information on the relationship of diet and
lifestyle as cause of cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and neurodegene-
rative diseases.
Set up of the Rare Diseases Registry of Navarra, in connexion with Spanish and
European Networks.
Participation in the I-MOVE European Network, funded by the ECDC, for evaluating
the influenza vaccine effectiveness. This network is formed by the main Public
Health institutes of European countries. We have contributed along with public
health agencies of USA, Canada, Australia and other European countries to the
GIVE Report (Global Influenza Vaccine Effectiveness) that has been considered by
the WHO for the selection of influenza virus strains to be included in the influenza
vaccine of the following season.
Evaluation of the vaccination against varicella in Navarra. We have demonstrated
a very rapid control of this infection following the introduction of this vaccination
in the childhood immunization schedule.
Programme of self-care for patients with asthma. This programme includes a cli-
nical protocol for primary healthcare and a protocol for health education in order
to patients know their disease better and take self-care.
