Main lines of research
• Study of the links between upper airway diseases (rhinitis, rhinosinusitis and nasal polyps) and low- er airway diseases (asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchiectasis). Relation- ship between chronic rhinosinusitis and asthma severity.
• Study of the alterations in the regulation of glu- cocorticoid receptor in the reduced response to glucocorticoids (glucocorticoid resistance) in in- flammatory airway diseases (chronic rhinosinusi- tis, nasal polyposis and asthma).
• Studyoftheroleofthecyclooxygenasepathaway of arachidonic acid metabolism in the pathophys- iology of airway inflammation (chronic rhinosi- nusitis, asthma), and in the airways remodelling and lung fibrosis.
• Study of the mechanisms involved in non-steroi- dal antiinflammatory drugs intolerance in asthma. • Severe asthma: study of the efficacy of the new
biologic therapies (omalizumab).
• New therapies: 6.1 In asthma (agonists of EP2
receptor of prostaglandin E2). 6.2 Transplantation of type II alveolar cells in the treatment of lung fi- brosis.
